Roebling Hall, Williamsburg, Brooklyn, NY, 2005
These paintings are set at Niagara Falls, and the trace of Hudson River School wistfulness and grandeur that moves through them is intensified by a jaundiced neon palette and the decision to place power towers and electrical wires on a par with the Horseshoe Falls and the Maid of the Mist. These paintings contemplate nature as it is seen through the obstructions of industry, pollution, and kitschy tourism.
